Hydraulic press brake application contexts

Hydraulic press brake selection follows the material route through the cell: grade, thickness, flange sequence and how parts leave the machine. This page is an application brief, not a claim that one hydraulic envelope covers every enclosure. Upstream shearing or downstream welding fixtures can be listed as interfaces; they do not create a separate product landing page on this site.

Material route

Operating context
Cabinet and enclosure shops typically send mild steel, stainless or coated sheet through a hydraulic press brake after shearing or laser cutting. The same machine may later see thicker flanges or shorter, offset bends. Those changes alter die opening, punch geometry and localized tool load even when bed length looks unchanged.
  1. Material route: Design input

Name the alloys and thicknesses that must share the hydraulic press brake. Record the longest bend, the tightest inside radius and whether return flanges collide with a standard punch. Provide representative production samples or at least the finished drawing for the most awkward part. Throughput should be stated as parts per shift on those samples, not as a leaflet strokes-per-minute figure. Work envelope must clear the largest sheet plus front supports.

  2. Supplier answer

The factory should state which die opening and punch geometry clear the complete part, how hydraulic working pressure and ram force map to the named thickness, and whether sheet followers are required for the longest flange. They should confirm three-phase supply, footprint and compressed air demand for any quoted supports. A hydraulic leaflet pressure in bar or psi is a drive rating, not proof that an offset bend stays within tool load.

  3. Open deviation

If the shop also wants CNC crowning, extra backgauge axes or a later robot at the front, list those as interfaces rather than assuming they ride along with a basic hydraulic frame. Single machine versus integrated line remains an industry dispute: staffing, guarding and SAT boundaries change when a robot is added. Nominal speed versus validated output is the second dispute—ask for test conditions on buyer material. See tooling and sheet-support budget notes.
